Mehrwegverpackung
In brief
Reusable packaging is packaging that is designed to be reused several times for the same purpose after use, and whose return is organized. In IT logistics, these are, for example, sturdy transport cases, roll carts or boxes that are shipped sealed and then used again. They save packaging waste and protect devices and data carriers during transport.
Reusable packaging in IT logistics
The German Packaging Act defines reusable packaging as packaging that is intended to be used several times for the same purpose and whose return and reuse is made possible by sufficient logistics. At EU level, the Packaging Regulation (PPWR) has applied since August 2026. From 2030, it provides, among other things, reuse requirements for certain transport packaging. As of: 10/2026.
| Solution | Advantage in transporting IT |
|---|---|
| Transport cases | Shock-resistant, lockable, sealable, for individual devices and data carriers |
| Trolley | For larger quantities, easy to load, sealable |
| Reusable boxes | Stackable, reusable, less filling material |
For security, what matters is that containers are closed and have numbered security seals applied. This makes it possible to check on arrival whether a container was opened en route. Reusable packaging is a building block of Circular economy in the supply chain.
Reusable packaging at Second IT
In logistics, Second IT relies on packaging systems that can be reused many times. For self-shipping, there is the PELI Case, a high-security case with two seals according to ISO 17712 for up to 31 kg, as well as roll carts with a load capacity of up to 750 kg. Both are delivered with security seals. More about Security logistics.
