6.000 € SPENDE AN UNICEF

In the night from March 14 to 15, 2019, the Cyclone Idai over south-east Africa. Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi were hit the hardest. Over 840 people lost their lives in the storm and hundreds were missing. Thousands struggled to survive.

The most important in a nutshell

  • Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi in March 2019 and left a trail of destruction in its wake.
  • Second donated part of the revenue from May 2019 to UNICEF.
  • A total of 6,000 euros were handed over to the Heilbronn UNICEF working group so that children can find a safe home again and be able to go to school.

The cyclone reached wind speeds of 170 kilometers per hour and left a trail of destruction in the southeastern African region. The torrential rains and winds destroyed roads, houses, and devastated entire areas. There was drought in the region at the time, and the cyclone completely destroyed the little harvest.

The tropical storm damaged or destroyed over 4,000 houses and several bridges and roads as well as water and power lines. Another obstacle for the rescue teams. Malaria mosquitoes and pathogens such as cholera are spreading in the puddles of rain left behind by Idai.

The extent of the disaster was enormous: In Zimbabwe alone, Cyclone Idai destroyed over 4,700 hectares of crops, thus destroying the food supply of thousands of people.

Our donation: a portion of May sales revenue for UNICEF

In order for the children to find a safe home again and be able to go to school, we decided to donate part of our revenue from the month of May 2019 to UNICEF. In the end, the proud sum of EUR 6,000 was able to be handed over to Ms. Gabriele Naumer from the UNICEF working group Heilbronn to support the victims of the storm disaster in South East Africa.
